A Gamified Loyalty Experience

UNIQLO has built a global reputation around functional apparel and its LifeWear philosophy. While the brand’s products and in-store experience are widely recognized, its digital loyalty experience remains largely transactional.

This project explored how UNIQLO could evolve its retention strategy from simple discount incentives into a more engaging, discovery-driven customer journey.

The result was UNIQLO Passport — a gamified loyalty framework designed to encourage customers to explore different product ecosystems while building long-term engagement with the brand.

UNIQLO Passport transforms sign-up into the beginning of a branded journey. As soon as customers enroll, they enter the Passport experience through a three-part welcome email series designed to introduce the concept of collecting stamps across product collections.

Customers then choose a starting destination such as AIRism, HEATTECH, or U Series, beginning their exploration of the brand.

This onboarding sequence introduces the loyalty concept while immediately activating engagement with the brand ecosystem.

Keep the Journey Going

As customers explore different collections, they earn digital stamps within their Passport.

Each new category discovered adds another stamp, encouraging customers to continue engaging with the brand.

Progression through the loyalty system unlocks new tiers:

Explorer — 3 stamps
Globetrotter — 5 stamps
World Citizen — 10+ stamps

Each tier introduces additional benefits such as early access to product drops, curated style kits, and personalized styling experiences.

CRM touchpoints such as app notifications and personalized emails reinforce progress and keep customers moving forward in the journey.
